Configuration of field permissions is separated
into two categories: built-in
fields and custom fields. This
topic describes the way you configure field level permissions for built-in
fields.
To set field permission for built-in fields:
Select Administration
| Workspace from the FootPrints
toolbar, then selecting User
Roles under the Roles
section of the main frame. The
User
Role Properties page is displayed.
A number of options
are provided in the Field Permissions section:
Create Issues
Specifying
Assignees—Use
the radio buttons to either permit users to or restrict users with this
role from designating assignees when creating an Issue.
Create
New Issues With Statuses of—When
the box is checked, the user can assign the specified status when creating
an Issue. When
it is not checked, the user cannot assign the specified status.
Descriptions
are mandatory for new Issues created with Statuses of—When
the box is checked, data must be entered into the Description field when
creating an Issue in the specified status. When
it is not checked, entering data in the Description field is optional.
Edit
Issue—The
role properties in this section only apply if the user is able to edit
or take the Issue.
Editing Titles—Allow or disallow users with this role to edit an Issue's Title field.
Editing Priority—Allow or disallow users with this role to edit an Issue's Priority field.
Editing
Assignees—Use
the radio buttons to allow or not allow users with this role to designate
assignees when editing an Issue.
Changing
Status—Use
this option to restrict which statuses can be changed to either Open or
Closed. For
example, you might want to allow a user in the assigned role to only change
a status of Request to Open. To
use this option, select the original option that the user sees when editing
the Issue from the drop-down list. Next,
check the box to specify the status to which the Issue can be changed.
When this
is used, the user can only change the status from the specified original
status to the built-in status you specify here.
Editing Inactive (a special Status used only for Subtask Sequencing)—Options are Allowed (to edit a subtask that is currently inactive) or Not Allowed. Editing is restricted to the fields that are permitted by the settings on this page.
Editing
Most Recent Description—Allow
or disallow editing of the most recent Description.
Mandatory
Description Appends—Select
a status from the drop-down list and then check one of the checkboxes
for either the Open or Closed status. When
the status is the one you selected from the drop-down, it is mandatory
for an Agent with this user role to append a Description when changing
the status to the specified built-in statuses.
