Action
- Select "Created" to return Issues created in the time period
specified, or "Last Edited" for when Issues were last updated.
This option is not available for custom date fields (those in the Issue
and Contact Information sections). The data entered manually by users
in those fields are searched on.
Exact - Specify
exact dates to search on in the period specified:
On
- Specify a particular date (leave second date blank).
Before
- Issues created/last edited before the date entered are returned (leave
second date blank).
After
- Issues created/edited after the date entered are returned (leave second
date blank).
Between
- Return Issues created/last edited between the dates specified.
Not Equal To—Return issues not created or edited on the date specified.
Dates
- Enter the date or dates to search on. Click the calendar icon to display
a searchable calendar.
Current Date
- Click this checkbox to search on the date the report is run. Overrides
any dates entered.
Relative
- Select this to search by relative date, allowing you to create a search
or report that returns Issues for the last month, for example. Select
a number from the first drop-down (1-31), and select the period from the
second drop-down: Day, Week, Month, or Year. For relative date searches, when you choose "X months", FootPrints looks at the actual number of days in those months, so it does not look at "months" as a set number of days (i.e., it does not assume 30 or 31 days per month). If you were to choose "next 2 months" during December, for example, the underlying logic is:
Figure out what month is two months from now (February).
Focus on the day of the month that is the same as the current day.
Validate that day. For example if you choose "2 months" on 12/31, FootPrints will arrive at 2/31 and have to adjust down to either 2/28 or 2/29.
Run a query between the two dates: "date > today AND date < 2/5/2017".
In the relative search options, the "month" and "year" options both work in the above fashion. However, the "day" and "week" options work more simply. They both add a set number of days. That is, when you choose "2 weeks", FootPrints multiplies the number of weeks chosen times 7.
Note
If the criteria is set for a report for a specific day, either
by using the Relative "issues received during the previous 1 day"
(yesterday) or by keying in a specific date, but the results are to be
broken down by month or by week received, the report is run on the entire
month or week that contains the requested day.
Range
- Pick this option to select a set range of time. Options include "Yesterday",
"Last Week", "Last Month", etc. "Relative"
and "Range" options are applied in relation to the date the
report is run, and are especially useful for saved search and report templates,
auto-run reports, and escalation rules.
Examples
Issues created
before January 1, 2003 - "Exact", “Created Before”, and
fill in “1 1 2003” in the first date field, leaving the second date field
blank.
Issues created
last calendar month - "Range", "Last Month".
Empty—If Empty is selected, the criteria is not applied to the search.
It is important to understand the meaning of
relative periods and aging in order to obtain accurate information, especially
as the searching and reporting functions of FootPrints
rely on the same types of criteria. If
a search is requested on Issues for "the previous three months,"
and the date is the 15th of May, then the period searched or reported
on will be from February 15th through May 14th, inclusive. That
is, the report or search will exclude the current date and give the three
month period prior to the current date. This
is to ensure that reports and searches yield consistent results. If
reports and searches included the current date, then the results might
differ depending on the time of day at which the search or report was
performed.
